News and Events

Remember the midweek services.  Each Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:15 pm.   Come join your friends and neighbors - bring a friend.  Your church home is open and our Lord is with us.

Please keep Parenting Partners in your prayers.  This organization which is an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina has a mission to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to strengthen families through intervention, education, and advocacy.

The BROTHERHOOD OF ST. ANDREW is an international ministry of Christian men who share a dedication of Prayer, Study, and Service. The St Timothy's chapter was initially chartered in 1923; however, over the years it became inactive.  Our meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.

This fall we will begin new Sunday school programs for Adults and youth.  There will be frequent short course offerings.  If you are interested in leading a book study or would like to teach a class for 2-3 weeks in the subject of your choice, please see Rev. Tula to set that up.  We will also have some intergenerational program offerings so if you have an interest or a talent to share, please call Rev. Tula.

We will be having our School Supply Drive during the month of July.  We are accepting items to be donated to Logan Elementary School before school starts.  The drive will last for the entire month of July.  You can place your items on the stage in Bennett Hall.  For more information, please contact Cookie Grant or the church office.

ANGLICAN PRAYER BEADS- The Needlework Guild, Knitting Guild, and Beading Class meet the last Sunday of every month after the 11:00 am service. These ministries meet to make prayer shawls, worship aids, Anglican prayer beads and jewelry for the bazaar.

COOK BOOKS - The time has come to start our cook book so that it will be available for the holidays. Vicki Nelson has accepted the responsibility to get these entered and submitted to the publishing company. All recipes are due no later than July 1. You can e-mail them (churchadmin@sc.rr.com) or you can leave them in Vicki’s mailbox in the hallway closet. If you need the recipe returned, please make a note and she’ll make sure that you get it back.

THE ALPHA COURSE - St. Timothy's will be offering The Alpha Course in the fall.  Alpha is a "10 week experience, where people from all backgrounds come together...to explore what relevance Jesus has for their lives today."  It is really a life changing experience and we are looking for people in our church who would be interested in experiencing this program during the summer and facilitating the course in the fall.  Please call Rev. Tula if you are interested in this special outreach and evangelistic program.  Anyone can be a facilitator and it doesn't take any special knowledge to serve as a facilitator so please prayerfully consider making this part of your Christian service to the church.  We will hold a program this summer for those people who are willing to serve as facilitators so you can experience it first hand yourself and it will be from June 3 – July 15 at 5:30 p.m.  There will be no class on July 1.  You must pre-register by June 2 by calling the church office.

CAMP GRAVATT registration is now under way.  Camp Gravatt announces that due to popular demand, session 7 (August 2 – 8) is now open for rising 10th graders.  Registration for this and other sessions is available online at www.bishopgravatt.org or by calling the Gravatt office at 803-648-1817.

St. Timothy’s Summer Concert Series 2008—  Four South Carolina musicians will present free noon concerts in the church sanctuary.  The four programs are as scheduled:

July 15  - Dr. Alan Weinberg, piano

July 22  - Katie Taylor, harp

Aug 12 -  Marc Rattray, Jacob Will, and Hal MacIntosh, baritones

Reservations for box lunches following the programs should be made by Monday before each program.  For more information, contact Elaine Sandberg (esandberg@statelibrary.sc.gov) or the church office (803-756-1519).

PARISH LIFE-A new parish life committee is being formed to provide for fellowship and fun activities.  Darlene Bradley has graciously accepted to lead it.  If you would like to help her, call Darlene or the Church office.  If you have a suggestion of something you would like to do, call Darlene.

PRAYERS  - An important part of our lay ministry includes our intercessory prayers on behalf of others.  We do so together each Sunday in our "Prayers of the People", as well as throughout the week individually.  If you would like us to include any names in the Sunday "Prayers of the People", please email these names to Susan Prinz (sprinz778@hotmail.com) or call (790.4500) by Wednesday.

Fall Bazaar -St. Timothy's will be holding a Bazaar this fall. The tentative date is November 1st. We will be selling handmade crafts, homemade baked goods and canned goods. We would appreciate donations from anyone who has a special talent.  Please contact Rev. Tula if you are interested in donating or helping in any way.

Men of the Church meets on the third Monday of each month.  Please join us at 6:30 pm.  We generally like to have a meal and then our program/meeting.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL-Will be held the week of July 20-24, 2008, in the evening.  If you can help in any way, please contact Stacey Matsui.

Episcopal Relief and Development   (ERD)    I thought you would like to know about the work ERD is doing in the world.  Go to www.er-d.org for updates on all ERD Emergency Relief Information.

Amy Moore is organizing an “Alternative Gift Fair” for Saturday, November 15, 2008.  This is a fair where different non-profit vendors set up booths and sell non-traditional things that may be given as gifts.  For example, if there is a booth from Heifer international, you could purchase a flock of chickens to be delivered to a third world country in honor of someone you know.  They would get a card stating that a flock of chickens was given in their honor.  Or you could purchase mosquito nets for people in Africa to prevent the spread of deadly Malaria.  As you begin to plan your early Christmas shopping this year, start thinking about those people who have everything and plan on honoring them with a donation to a needy cause!

Choir Practices at 6 pm each Wednesday.  We are always interested in adding new members.

Sunday School for all ages will resume in September.  See you at Vacation Bible School - July 20 - 24.
